Singer and former VJ Nikki Gil has revealed that her three-year-old daughter, Madeline Elle, affectionately known as Maddie, has been diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease—a rare illness that causes inflammation of blood vessels in young children.
In an emotional Instagram post, Nikki expressed the challenges her family faced during Maddie's hospitalization:
"Maddie was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease—something we had never even heard of," Nikki shared. "And seeing our little girl in pain, hooked to IVs, enduring tests and meds, was the hardest thing we've ever gone through as parents."
Despite the difficulties, Nikki expressed gratitude towards Maddie's medical team and their support system:
"We're finally home with our brave girl, and while recovery continues, our hearts are filled with gratitude," she wrote.
Kawasaki Disease, first identified by Japanese pediatrician Tomisaku Kawasaki, primarily affects children under five and can lead to serious heart complications if not promptly treated.
Nikki and her husband, BJ Albert, welcomed Maddie in October 2021. The couple also has a son, Finn.
The family has received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow celebrities during this challenging time.
