As the Holy Week commences, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a warning for 19 cities and municipalities experiencing "dangerous" heat indices due to prevailing easterlies.

PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres attributes the soaring temperatures to warm winds from the Pacific Ocean affecting Metro Manila and much of the country. She notes that while mornings and noons will be hot and humid, afternoons and evenings may bring localized thunderstorms.

The following areas are expected to have a heat index of 43°C on Monday, falling within PAGASA's "danger" classification (42°C to 51°C):

  • Dagupan City, Pangasinan

  • San Ildefonso, Bulacan

  • Sangley Point, Cavite City, Cavite

  • San Jose, Occidental Mindoro

  • Puerto Princesa City, Palawan

  • Cuyo, Palawan

  • Virac, Catanduanes

  • Masbate City, Masbate

  • Roxas City, Capiz

  • Iloilo City, Iloilo

Areas with a projected heat index of 42°C include

  • Bacnotan, La Union

  • Tuguegarao City, Cagayan

  • Echague, Isabela

  • Cubi Point, Subic Bay, Olongapo City

  • Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas

  • Coron, Palawan

  • Daet, Camarines Norte

  • Dumangas, Iloilo

PAGASA advises the public to limit outdoor activities, especially during peak heat hours, stay hydrated, and wear appropriate clothing to mitigate heat-related risks. They also recommend seeking shade and using protective accessories like hats and umbrellas when outdoors.
